The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminded operators and drivers of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) that there are no fees being charged to obtain the QR Code needed to operate during the general community quarantine (GCQ).

The LTFRB said operators and drivers can now access the website to download the special codes that would prove that their units are "roadworthy" and were included in the 6,002 PUJs authorized by the Board to ply in Metro Manila.

Memorandum Circular 2020-026 of the LTFRB, which contains guidelines on the resumption of traditional jeepney operations, requires PUJs to have QR Codes instead of applying for a special permit.

LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III explained that the codes will also serve as a marker for enforcers that the unit was permitted to service the 49 routes in the capital region opened by the agency on Friday.

To download the code, operators and drivers should visit LTFRB's website at ltfrb.gov.ph and click the "LTFRB QR Code" option.

The resumption of mass transit was implemented by the Department of Transportation in two phases, as advised by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Trains, bus augmentations, taxis, transport network vehicle services, shuttle services, point-to-point buses, city buses, and bicycles have been allowed in the first phase from June 1 to 21, while modernized jeeps, UV Express, and traditional PUJs resumed operations in the second phase which began June 22.
