Only 200 among the 800 applicants hurdled the stringent screening and tests conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the region.

PRO 13 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Joselito T Esquivel, Jr., administered the oath of office to 170 male and 30 female rookie police officers, who will comprise the new police personnel for the PRO’s first cycle regular recruitment.

In his message, the region’s police chief challenged the new recruits to be true to the noble calling of the PNP that is to serve God, country and family.

The new recruits will undergo six months of rigorous training at the Regional Training Center 13 (RTC13) after rapid testing for COVID-19, and they will start to receive a monthly basic salary of P29,668.

After the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at RTC 13 in Barangay Lipata, Surigao City, it will be followed by another six months of immersion or Field Training Program (FTP) at the police stations prior to their deployment to their assignments.

“You now officially belong to the special breed of men and women in the noble profession of law enforcement,” Esquivel said.

“Our job is a vocation, we prevent and control crimes and therefore, do not let anyone and anything stain or destroy your name, as you work in the organization,” Esquivel added.
