On its official Facebook page, the local government said the mass testing in the city is being conducted in cooperation with the Department of Health (DOH).
“Tinatayang 750 na residente ngayong araw ang sumailalim sa mass testing mula sa Block 39 and 40, Barangay Addition Hills (Around 750 residents from Block 39 and 40 in Barangay Addition Hills underwent mass testing today),” the Mandaluyong City Public Information Office said.
According to the City Health Department, the barangay has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city.
The city's data showed that Barangay Addition Hills has 194 confirmed cases, 76 active cases, 109 recoveries, and nine deaths as of June 28.
Last month, a compound within the village was placed on “total lockdown” due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in the area. During the week-long lockdown, the local government conducted rapid testing on around 3,000 residents of the barangay.
City Public Information Officer Jimmy Isidro said the local government used polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits for the mass testing.
The swab samples taken from those tested will then be forwarded to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for processing, he added.
The headquarters of the humanitarian agency is located in Mandaluyong City.
The local government said they are targeting to conduct 500 tests per day, saying this will be a big help in the city’s fight against the spread of COVID-19.
