TANAY, Rizal - The scheduled resumption of UV Express trips from this province to Metro Manila has drawn mixed reactions from commuters residing here.
Some netizens reacted to the social media post of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announcing the opening of 47 routes to 980 UV Express units starting Monday, June 29.
A netizen apparently from Tanay wondered why the Tanay-Metro Manila route of the UV Express was not included in the list of routes that will resume on June 29.
“Paano naman kami na sa Manila ang trabaho? Mamatay kami sa gutom. Wala nang nagpapautang, (How about us who are working in Manila? We will die of hunger. There are no more creditors who would lend us money),” the female netizen commented on the repost of an online community newspaper about the LTFRB-approved UV Express routes.
Another netizen said jeepneys and buses should also be allowed to ply the Tanay route.
At present, the only means of transportation in this town going from one town to another are tricycles who charge unreasonable fares.
Of the 47 UV Express routes, 17 are in the eastern side of Metro Manila. These are Antipolo, Cainta, Binangonan, San Mateo, Rodriguez, Cardona, and Morong.
The routes are Taytay-EDSA Central; Greenland Cainta-Ayala; Masinag-Ayala; Antipolo-Ayala; San Mateo-Ayala; Binangonan-Sta. Lucia; Binangonan-SM Megamall; Binangonan Star Mall; Binangonan-EDSA Central; Binangonan-Marikina Riverbank; Cardona-Starmall; Cardona-EDSA Central; and Morong-SM Megamall.
Netizens are hoping the LTFRB would also open other routes as going to Metro Manila from their respective localities in Rizal have been very difficult.
