Series of fatal motorcycle accidents in Cavite continues with woman dead in hit-and-run

PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS CITY, Cavite –A series of fatal motorcycle accidents in Cavite continues after a 54-year-old woman died on Thursday (June 18) after being hit by a speeding motorcycle while she and her daughter were crossing the Binakayan Road in Barangay Balsahan, Kawit, the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported on Friday (June 19). Beverly Barlizo Martinez, a resident of Covelandia Road, Balsahan, died of multiple injuries at the Binakayan Hospital where she was brought by a municipal rescue team. There was no mention of the daughter’s condition in the initial police report. PPO reports showed that Martinez was the seventh fatality in accidents involving motorcycles in Cavite province during the week. Aside from the Kawit accident, two mishaps were also reported in Dasmariñas City and one in Naic, involving a couple; one in Magallanes, and one in General Trias City over the past week. Police arrested Jayson Pejoto Abastillas, 26, driver of the motorcycle that reportedly struck Martinez on the highway at 7:10 a.m. According to the police report, the accident is still under investigation.
