Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla told reporters in a press conference that his office, together with TESDA-Leyte, has initiated plans and initiatives to provide, and give priorities on scholarships for the beneficiaries of BPBPP on various livelihood training programs of the government.
Petilla explained that the main objective in giving the scholarship trainings was to provide the BPBPP beneficiaries employment opportunities in the province.
The province of Leyte was one the pilot provinces in the staging of BPBPP, which was institutionalized after President Duterte signed Executive Order No. 114 last May 6.
TESDA-Leyte Director Loreta Banario said that providing scholarship trainings was one of the instructions given to TESDA-Leyte by the national office as part of the priority programs for the BPBPP beneficiaries.
“We will offer a customized program based on their needs. It could be on food production and processing, agriculture, hospitality, health care, among others. If what they want is not included in our existing programs, then we will make a project proposal,” Banario said.
Banario said that her office will contact the beneficiaries for interview and assessment to know their specific needs.
She added that her office will provide the beneficiary-trainees with their needs while in their trainings like personal protective equipment, Internet connectivity allowance, starter tool kits, and P160-daily allowance during the training period.
“We will shoulder their assessment and also provide them post-training assistance wherein our training institutions, will help them with their employment, whether wage- or self-employment,” Banario said.
