Makati City Hall employees to receive anniversary bonus on city's foundation day

By Jean Fernando Around 7,310 Makati City Hall employees will receive P3,000 each as an anniversary bonus on Monday (June 22) in line with the celebration of the 350th Araw ng Makati foundation day. Mayor Abby Binay said around 3,425 regular employees, 3,876 casuals and nine contractual workers will be receiving their P3,000 anniversary bonus each for being reliable partners in delivering services to the city. “This our simple way of giving back to our valued employees who have been our reliable partners in delivering services to our constituents for the past years. We appreciate how readily they have responded to the call of duty during this pandemic, putting public welfare before their own,” Binay said. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the mayor said all activities scheduled for this year’s anniversary celebration have been cancelled. Hazard pay, risk allowance for frontliners Last April, the city government was authorized by the City Council through Ordinance No. 2020-092 to allocate P124,453 to fund hazard pay and special risk allowances to all qualified city hall frontliners who reported for duty during the period of enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila. She said that the benefit was extended to regular, casual, and contractual personnel of the city government who were exposed to great danger. The mayor said that occupational risk, perils of life, and physical hardship were also considered in granting occupational duty risk pay.
