Makati launches contactless payment portal

By Gabriela Baron Makati City residents and business establishments can now pay business and real property taxes through a contactless payment portal, Mayor Abby Binay announced on Monday (June 15). The newly launched online payment portal gives residents quick access to their tax statements, which can be downloaded and paid through any bank or mobile banking. To pay real property tax or business tax, residents must visit www.makationlinepayments.com and search for their tax declaration number. Upon choosing which quarter to pay, residents must download and print their billing statement and bring it to the nearest bank. After depositing the amount, residents must input payment details and upload a copy of their deposit slip on their portal profile. Mayor Binay said the contactless payment system will eliminate the need for residents to physically go to City Hall and queue for tax payments. The process also ensures that the residents complete their financial transactions on time without having to leave the safety of their homes. "Makati will be implementing more innovations similar to this to ensure the safety and convenience of Makatizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic," Binay added.
