The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has called on the public to be vigilant against unregistered products being sold online.

FDA Director-General Rolando Enrique Domingo said the public should only purchase products that are registered with the agency.
“The FDA warns the public to be careful in buying products. They should make sure they are FDA registered to assure safety and quality,” Domingo said.
The public may visit the FDA's official Facebook page or its website where it posts different unregistered products such as supplements, medical devices, food items, and cosmetics among others.
The FDA website has a search feature where the public can type the name of the product to know whether or not it is registered with the agency.
The FDA reminded the public that it cannot guarantee the quality and safety of unregistered products. "The use of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers," it said.
Amid the coronavirus disease pandemic, Domingo also warned the public that COVID-19 rapid test kits are prohibited from being sold online.
“Drugs and medical devices such as COVID-19 rapid test kits are not allowed to be sold online,” Domingo said.
The FDA official also gave a warning to those online sellers offering unregistered products.
“Online sellers of illegal products are being caught and raided by the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) and PNP (Philippine National Police) with the FDA. We will continue to stop such activities and file cases against the perpetrators,” Domingo said.
Violators may face sanctions in accordance with Republic Act No. 9711 or the FDA Act of 2009.
The agency also encouraged the public to report any sale or distribution of unregistered products. They can access the online reporting facility of the FDA through [email protected].
