BIR: Taxpayers may use mobile app to remit taxes

By Jun Ramirez The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reminded taxpayers Wednesday that they may use the mobile application facilities of PayMaya Philippines to settle the 2019 income and other tax liabilities. Bureau of Internal Revenue (MANILA BULLETIN) Bureau of Internal Revenue (MANILA BULLETIN) BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay stated in Revenue Memorandum Circular 54-2020 that all taxes collected by the mobile application company are turned back over to the Development Bank of the Philippines, one of the Authorized Agent Bank of the bureau, which will remit the same to the Bureau of Treasury. To avail of the mobile application, taxpayers are required to file the corresponding tax returns, using the electronic filing facilities of eBIRForms system, or the Electronic Filing and Payment System. Taxpayers shall download the App in the Google Play Store, or Apple App Store, or Huawei AppGallery to use the PayMaya online services. Then a taxpayer logs in his PayMaya account and clicks on "Pay Bills" option and selects "Bureau of Internal Revenue." The next step will be to enter all pertinent details like the Taxpayer identification Number and amount to be paid. The taxpayer will receive payment confirmation via SMS after clicking the "Pay" button. Revenue Deputy Commission for Information System Group Lanee David said the new payment schedule is secure and hassle-free. "It is like paying your grocery bills, cashless," she added.(Jun Ramirez)
