TUGUEGARAO CITY-- The improved mobility of goods and services and a safer journey for travelers are expected after the completion of a bridge widening project at Curimao Bridge along Junction Logac-Magapit Road in Lallo, Cagayan.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Cagayan First District Engineering Office is implementing the bridge widening project at a cost of P46.55 million, targeting it for completion before the second quarter of the year.

District Engineer James P. Ferrer reported on Tuesday (June 9) to OIC- Regional Director Loreta M. Malaluan that the widening to 7.32 meters of the 50.6-meter long bridge will soon be completed.

Meanwhile, DPWH Regional Information Officer Wilzon Valdez said that when the project is completed, it will accommodate more motorists going to and from the Ilocos Region traversing the Manila North Road.

“Natural calamities and disasters become alarming, and we have foreseen that there is a need to modify this bridge to make it more resistant to seismic activity or ground motion and to conform to the latest DPWH bridge-design standards with enhanced load-bearing capacity.” Ferrer said.
