The Dominican Community of the Priory of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag said this is in the event that there is a need for contact tracing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The health and safety of all devotees of Apo Baket is our primary concern when we resume liturgical services here at the Minor Basilica," read their letter to devotees.
"To aid potential contact tracing, we require mass goers to write name and contact number before being allowed entry to Church premises," it further read.
Contact tracing is the identification and follow-up of persons, who may have come into close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
Other churches in the country such as those in the Diocese of Pasig will also adopt contact tracing mechanisms when public masses and liturgical services resume.
In his Administrative Decree dated June 8, Pasig Bishop Mylo Vergara instructed his priests to inform the faithful to bring a ballpen when attending mass.
"The faithful should be informed that they need to bring ballpen when attending the Mass. At the entrance doors of the church, they will be given a form which they can bring in their seats. They will fill up the form upon seating in the pews with the corresponding details (name, address, contact number, date and time of the mass attended and seat number)," he said.
"They will submit that form at the exit doors before leaving the church after the celebration," added Vergara.
He said the seats will also be pre-marked with letters and numbers or numbers to easily facilitate the contact tracing.
Even the faithful in the Diocese of Sorsogon will also be asked to fill up a logbook for easy tracing.
Churches have been implementing safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 such as the wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizers, temperature check, among others.
