Suspect in convenience store robbery nabbed in Bulacan

BALIUAG, Bulacan – One of the three suspects in the robbery of a 24-hour convenience store was arrested in an operation conducted by authorities in Barangay Subic here Thursday night, May 28.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Isagani Gamba Mendoza, 38, of Plaridel Street, Brgy. Subic, Baliuag this province.

Mendoza was alleged to have participated in the robbery-hold up of Alfamart in Barangay Makinabang at around 5 p.m. Thursday, May 28.

He and two other suspects allegedly took P38,000 in cash, P500 worth of gift certificates, calling cards worth P1,700, 60 packs of cigarettes, 40 pieces of chocolates, 20 pieces of candies, and 3 pieces of condoms.

Mendoza fled onboard a sport utility vehicle (SUV), while his cohorts escaped onboard a motorcycle.

A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of Mendoza, who yielded two .38-caliber revolvers, and ammunition.

Cases for robbery and illegal possession of firearms were already being prepared against Mendoza.
