In a Facebook post Friday, the Mandaluyong City Public Information Office through an infographic from their legal department showed what the law says about the issue.
The infographic said that under R.A. 11469 or “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act” people who pay rent for room or apartment should be given a 30-day grace period to pay.
Under the law, no penalty or extra charges shall be imposed during the ECQ.
The infographic also cited Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) memorandum circular no. 20-12 which states that a 30-day grace period should also be granted to those who pay rent during the ECQ period.
Like the law, the memo circular also states that no penalties or extra charges should be imposed.
Furthermore, the DTI memo circular also states that a payment scheme could also be arranged wherein the equivalent of unpaid rent would be divided into six installments and this would be added to their monthly rent payable within a period of six months.
