Army provides assistance to remote health units of Surigao Norte, Dinagat Islands provinces

BUTUAN CITY - The Army’s 30th Infantry (Python) Battalion (30th IB) continues to provide assistance by delivering Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) donated to government health centers of Gigaquit Rural Health Unit (RHU) and Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Dinagat Island province.

Civil Military Operations (CMO) Officer of the 30th IB 2nd Lt Benjamin Elisand de Dios told The Manila Bulletin on Thursday that the 30th IB already handed over to the health centers three boxes containing 500 pieces of face masks, eight boxes of surgical gloves, and 12 boxes of alcohol with dispenser.
The PPEs were donated by the Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Foundation, Inc.
The two health centers in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands are among the health units providing free basic healthcare services despite their limited resources.
The handing over of PPE yesterday was facilitated by 30th IB Executive Officer Maj. Jasper Gacayan, together with 30th IB Civil Military Operations (CMO Officer 2nd Lt Benjamin Elisand de Dios to Mr. Rey Costillas, public assistant officer on purchasing supplies of PHO Dinagat Island and to Dr. Aimee Lorraine Capinpuyan, officer-in-charge of Gigaquit RHU.
Dr. Aimee Lorraine C. Capinpuyan thanked TOWNS and the 30th IB for ensuring that the needed PPEs for their front liners were delivered.
Meanwhile, 30th IB Commander Lt. Col. Ryan Charles Callanta said "We tirelessly work and continue to provide assistance in whatever capacity to mitigate and contain the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and also to ensure that our medical front liners receive their needed PPEs and equipment.”
“We also urge everyone to continue to cooperate with the authorities, adhere and observe the provisions and guidelines set by the government in an effort to mitigate the spread/impact of the virus," the 30th IB commander added.
