The Las Piñas City government announced that senior citizens in the city, totaling to 7,182 from Districts 1 and 2, will receive their social pension starting May 27.
Based on a memorandum of agreement signed by Mayor Imelda Aguilar, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) gave a total of P38.502-million to the city government to continue with the distribution of the social amelioration fund.
Aguilar said that the said funding given by the DSWD-NCR will ensure the timely release of grants or payments to the senior citizens and to expedite the implementation of social pension by directly involving local government units (LGUs), office of the senior citizens, and people’s organizations at the city level.
She explained that the qualified social pension beneficiaries will receive P3,000 as stipend per semester. The LGU shall take responsibility in the proper disposition or disbursement in the implementation of the social pension in accordance with the existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing rules and regulation.
Based on the data of OSCA, a total of 4,114 qualified senior citizens will receive pension from District I, while there are 3,068 beneficiaries from District 2.
Aguilar said that beneficiaries will receive their pension for the first and second semesters of 2019 and first semester of 2020.
