OVP, QC city's Community Mart generates over P500,000

Vice President Leni Robredo’s online market project, in partnership with the Quezon City goverment, got off to a good start, with the sales of about half a million pesos on its first week.

Robredo posted on her official Facebook page a video message about the proceeds of the Community Mart for small-scale vendors and tricycle drivers.
“As of May 20, 2020, na-breach na po natin iyong P500,000 mark, nakakuha na po tayo ng P532,360 (As of May 20, 2020, we have already breached the P500,000 mark, we collected P532,360),” she said.
“Napakalaking tulong po nito para sa ating vendors. Napakalaking tulong para sa ating mga tricycle drivers kaya maraming salamat po sa suporta n’yo (This is a big help to
our vendors and tricycle drivers that’s why we thank you for your support),” Robredo said.
The Vice President said she hoped for the continued support of consumers to the project to help vendors and trike drivers to have extra income amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Community Mart is an e-market project, where people may buy goods like meat, fruits, vegetables, and other food items through an app-based service, and pay their purchases upon delivery.
The pilot run is at the Kamuning Market, which receives orders from nearby barangays such as Sacred Heart, Laging Handa, South Triangle, Obrero, Paligsahan, Pinagkaisahan, and Roxas District in Quezon City.
Cash on delivery is the mode of payment only for customers.
Robredo’s office announced the expansion of the online delivery service to Pasig City, aiming to provide more livelihood opportunities for its market vendors and tricycle drivers.
“Parating na kami, Pasig City! Sa paglalayon nating matulungan ang market vendors at tricycle drivers na naapektuhan ng Enhanced Community Quarantine, magbubukas na rin ang ating Community Mart program sa Lungsod ng Pasig, sa pakikipagtulungan ng lokal na pamahalaan doon (We’re coming, Pasig City! In our aim to help our market vendors and tricycle drivers affected by the ECQ, we will also launch our Community Mart in Pasig, in cooperation with its local government),” she said in a separate post.
