By Mike Crismundo TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur – As a way of giving recognition to the vital role of the frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the troops of the Army’s 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion showcased their talent and creativity in a poster-making contest at the unit’s headquarters in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur. 26th IB / MANILA BULLETIN The poster making contest is part of the upcoming reactivation anniversary celebration of the unit with the theme “Ever Onward para sa Serbisyo, Kalinaw ug Kalambuan” (Service, peace and progress), 1st Lt. Percival J. Carido, Civil Military Operations (CMO) officer of the 26th IB told The Manila Bulletin on Thursday. The poster making contest started on Monday, May 18. Trained to be versatile at all times, each contingent is expected to bring out its best piece of artwork depicting the roles of all frontliners, the 26th IB CMO officer said. The Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Headquarters Company of 26th IB were represented by their own personnel who were given a limited time of 3 hours maximum to work on their pieces. The judging of the winners will be based on the following criteria: 50% creativity and attractiveness, 30% relevance, and 20% originality. Lt. Col. Romeo C. Jimenea, commanding officer of the 26th IB, said: “Despite certain circumstances caused by this virus, we are grateful to be alive, healthy, and to be part of someone’s life especially our co-front-liners who held their ground to protect the lives of every people in the community against this disease.” "This is also a way of recreation and entertainment for our troops who are far from their families," he said. "Purposely, as part of the 36th Reactivation Anniversary of our battalion, the poster making contest not only showcases skills and artistry among our soldiers, but also gives tribute to our frontliners,” Jimenea added.
