Albay towns offer free rides to workers

Domingo and Tabaco City in the province of Albay are offering free rides to employees, starting Monday, as work resumed during the implementation of general community quarantine (GCQ). (Tabaco City, Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro / MANILA BULLETIN) (Tabaco City, Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro / MANILA BULLETIN) In Tabaco City, Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro announced that the city government will be providing free shuttle from Tabaco City Central Terminal (TCCT) to Legazpi City Grand Terminal in Legazpi City. For those going to Legazpi City, pick up time will start at 6:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., while returning workers will be picked up at 5:30 p.m. at Legazpi City Grand Terminal. In Sto. Domingo town, Mayor Joseling "Jun" Aguas also announced that the LGU was offering "Libreng Sakay (free ride) for Workers" starting Monday. Aguas said that workers from Sto. Domingo going to Legazpi City may avail of the free rides from 6 a.m. until afternoon. "Waiting area will be infront of Potenciano Gregorio Recreational and Cultural Center while drop off points will be at Ayala Mall and SM City Legazpi," he said. Aguas said that the “libreng sakay” will be available until transportation services in the region become normal. "Diretso lang po itong libreng sakay natin hanggang mag-normalize na yung transportasyon," Aguas said. On Friday, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Bicol announced that public utility vehicles (PUVs) will be allowed to operate during GCQ, but operators should first secure special permits before formal operation. As of Monday, jeepneys, buses and UV express were not yet operating in the province of Albay.
