Lanao del Sur to purchase COVID-19 testing machines, kits

By Bonita Ermac MARAWI CITY -- The provincial government of Lanao del Sur will purchase coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing machine and kits as part of its intensified efforts to get a real picture of the extent of infection in the province. 97396872_1554747628011570_1761239219050643456_n Governor Mamintal Alonto-Adiong Jr. handed over a P10-million check to Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) Chief Dr. Shalimar Sani-Rakiin for the procurement of the COVID-19 testing machine. The same amount has also been earmarked for the purchase of testing kits and other medical supplies to be given to the Lanao del Sur Integrated Provincial Health Office, Adiong said. These funds were sourced from the so-called Bayanihan grant of the national government. He also said the provincial government has allocated funds for the second tranche of their Ligtas COVID-19 Relief Assistance Operation. Accordingly, P2 million of these funds came from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Meanwhile, Marawi City, through its mayor Majul Gandamra, said it was also planning to purchase rapid testing kits. "Nakipag-usap na tayo sa mga supplier, looking forward the soonest possible time,” Gandamra said.
