NBI files raps vs. Woman who created fake Facebook account vs. Ex-bf
By Jeffrey Damicog
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed charges against a woman who tried to get back at her ex-boyfriend by creating a fake social media account using his name and posting there threats against President Duterte.
NBI Cyber Crime Division (NBI-CCD) Chief Victor Lorenzo identified the suspect as Phoebe Bonifacio.
Lorenzo said on Friday (May 15) that the NBI-CCD has filed a complaint against Bonifacio before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for violating Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and for grave threats under Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to RA 10175.
The NBI official said the charges were filed following Bonifacio's arrest in an entrapment operation conducted against her in Pateros last May 12.
The operation was conducted based on a complaint made by her ex-boyfriend, security guard Alfred Rioflorido.
Rioflorido went to the NBI to complain that a Facebook account was created under his name and using his pictures.
He expressed his concern over the criticism he has been receiving over curses and threats made against Duterte in the fake Facebook account and which he did not write.
Lorenzo said the entrapment operation was arranged after the suspect had agreed to meet with Rioflorido.
In the meeting, Rioflorido saw the log-in details of the fake Facebook account on her mobile phone.
With the information, the NBI arrested Bonifacio and confirmed the existence of the fake account on her mobile phone.
