TUCP to continue education financial subsidy for North Cotabato

DAVAO CITY - The Trade Union Congress Party (TUCP) Partylist, in partnership with North Cotabato Vice Governor Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, announced on Tuesday that it will continue its education subsidy under the Tulong-Dunong Scholarship Program in the province.

Mendoza said in her official Facebook account that the TUCP will continue the scholarship program through the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
She said that about 300 students from University of Southern Mindanao-Main Campus and Kidapawan City Campus will get P15,000 financial benefit for the school year 2019-2020. This is an increase of P3,000 from the last year’s allocation, she added.
At the moment, Mendoza said, there were 199 students from the main campus who received their grants, while 95 students from Kidapawan Campus will have to wait for final announcement to receive their grants.
She said the funds have just been downloaded from the CHED-12 regional office and that the Office of the Students Affairs will then finalize the schedule and procedures to ensure a prompt release of the subsidy to scholars.
Mendoza said the province will always prioritize investing in their youth’s future by making sure that everyone is provided easy access to quality education.
“We believe in the skills, aspirations of our youth, and their high prospects in contributing to the development of Cotabato. With this, the poverty should not deter our students in fulfilling their dreams because we have so much to hope for in their future,” Mendoza said.
TUCP Partylist Representative Raymond Democrito Mendoza, meanwhile, vowed to continue to support Cotabato youth.
“As Cotabato’s partner, we will never stop in looking for ways and means to make sure that Cotabateños continue to achieve their dreams through education,” Raymond said.
Raymond added that education was the most stable and potent tool for our youth to arm themselves as they prepare to take over the communities.
The TUCP and Mendoza have partnered for the province’s scholarship program since 2009. Thousands of students have benefited from the CHED Tulong Dunong Program and were able to finish schooling through the financial subsidy.
