The Manila City government finished distributing financial aid to the beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Social Amelioration Program (SAP) Sunday afternoon.

Data from the city government showed that as of 2 p.m., a total of 185,680 families in the city have each received P8,000.

This was done in compliance with the Department of the Interior and Local Government's (DILG) May 10 deadline.

In an earlier public briefing, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said the DSWD allocated a P1.4 billion fund to be distributed to the economically-challenged residents of the city.

In a related development, the city government will be distributing over P13 million financial aid to a total of 8,931 senior citizens who have yet to receive their monthly pension.

In his city address Saturday night, Domagoso announced that each senior citizen, who was listed as a beneficiary in the fourth tranche of their pension distribution, will receive P1,500.

The local chief executive also added that they will go after barangay officials who are accused of irregular distribution of food and cash assistance to residents.

Forty-six barangay officials have been served show-cause orders by the city government, while five are being investigated by the police, Domagoso said.
