Luces LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The 27 Bicolano students of University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) have finally been brought home on Thursday night after weeks of being stranded at the school premises due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Ako Bicol Congressman Zaldy Co, who initiated the return of UPLB students said that they coordinated with the provincial government of Albay and Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) chief Dr. Cedric Daep to fetch the Bicolano students, who have been stranded at the UPLB campus since March 15. “Bago bumiyahe, tiniyak muna ng Ako Bicol na may kumpletong dokumento ang sila para makapasok sa lalawigan. Nangako naman ang mga mag-aaral na susunod sila sa lahat ng mga kondisyon at alituntunin ng pamahalaan tulad ng medical checkup at karampatang quarantine bago umuwi sa kani-kanilang tahanan,” Co said. From UPLB, the Bicolano students were brought by a Misibis Bay bus to a designated quarantine site of the provincial government in Ligao City where their respective municipal or city LGUs will fetch them for mandatory quarantine. “Susunduin naman sila ng mga kinatawan ng kani-kanilang LGUs upang maihanda sa mandatory quarantine at checkups bago makauwi sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan,” he said. Co said the list of students as six from Sorsogon, five each from Guinobatan, and Libon; four form Legazpi City, and one each from Sorsogon, Camalig, Bacacay, Malilipot, Polangui, Sto. Domingo and Pioduran.
