Listed agriculture firm AgriNurture Inc. (ANI) will sell rice and fruits via the Philippine government's first farm-to-market digital marketing app, which was launched in order to give Filipino consumers direct access to farm products amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
On Monday, the Department of Agriculture (DA) launched the "eKadiwa" digital marketing app, which will link farmers and agribusinesses such as listed company AgriNurture, Inc. (ANI) to consumers.
The "eKadiwa.da.gov.ph" is the first online digital platform of the DA and will help sell products like fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish and many more.
The launch is part of the DA's food security and resiliency initiative under the ‘Plant, Plant, Plant’ program, a P31-billion initiative yet to secure full funding from the national government.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the move also paves the way to the digital transformation and automation of the agency, in its journey towards "Agriculture 4.0" that focuses on precision agriculture, internet of things (IoT), and use of big data to attain efficiencies in the food value chain, amid rising populations and climate change.
In particular for DA’s deal with ANI, the two signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the government agency allowing the agriculture firm's ANI Express portal to be an anchor online merchant of ekadiwa.da.gov.ph.
ANI's e-commerce portal, aniexpress.1ani.com.ph, offers a wide range of healthy products including plant based substitutes. It also offers electronic payment options for convenience of buyers and logistic partners.
Based on the MOA, ANI and other companies participating in this program should use or follow the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) issued by the DA and other government authorities in the retail sales of covered agricultural and fishery products, such as but not limited to price freeze.
The MOA noted however that the cost of logistics or delivery services for orders of agricultural and fishery products on the eKadiwa online portal shall be separate from the SRP, unless offered as free service by the official program partner-participant seller.
