AC Health taps repurposed Healthway Medical clinic

By James A. Loyola AC Health, a member of the Ayala Group, has repurposed Healthway Medical Greenbelt 5 into a cancer specific unit that will serve the needs of oncology patients. The firm said that, this is in response to the difficulty that both cancer patients and oncologists face as they seek treatment amidst the COVID-19 health crisis. The Department of Health (DOH) has granted AC Health permission to run Healthway Medical Greenbelt 5, one of its out-patient multispecialty clinics, as a chemotherapy infusion center beginning April 17, 2020. This allows AC Health to help serve the needs of cancer patients seeking a safe and convenient alternative place of care, furthering its commitment to improving healthcare for all. “The COVID-19 crisis has made it very difficult for both patients and oncologists alike to navigate their way around seeking cancer treatment under ideal conditions,” said AC Health President Paolo Borromeo. He added that, “At Healthway, we are committed to serve those whose care plan may have been disrupted and to ensure that quality cancer care is made accessible.” While the Healthway Greenbelt 5 clinic is currently a Chemotherapy Infusion Center, the clinic continues to offer consultations and utmost care for non COVID related cases or non-cancer patients. Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, and other services will continue to be offered. The clinic, which meets DOH regulatory and safety standards for providing healthcare to cancer patients, has an installation of premium infusion pumps and needed medical services, and a Class II-2A Biosafety Cabinet. An ambulance is also on standby, should an unlikely event of an adverse reaction occur. Patients will be supervised by board certified medical oncologists, experienced oncology nurses, and trained oncology pharmacists to guarantee quality care for cancer patients at the clinic. The referring oncologist will remain as the patient’s primary doctor throughout the treatment process and can go through an accelerated accreditation process at Healthway to assist them in PhilHealth and HMO requirements and billing.
