P1.3-million shabu seized in Benguet buy-bust ops

By Zaldy Comanda LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO) notched its biggest illegal drugs haul in recent years with the confiscation of over P1.3 million of shabu in Sitio Dontog, Barangay Catlubong in Buguias town, Benguet last Thursday, April 30. According to Benguet PPO Directore Col. Elmer Ragay, a total of 200.4 grams of shabu, with Dangerous Drug Board value of P1.361 million, was confiscated n a buy-bust operation by joint police personnel from different police and anti-narcotics groups. Ragay said the operatives arrested suspect Marson Bayas Ballusong,33, a farmer, who was listed as high-value individual (HVI), and was in the roster of Top 10 personalities on illegal drugs in the Police Regional Office-Cordillera. A police report said the operatives conducted the buy-bust operation against the suspect at 9:50 p.m. April 30. Confiscated during the operation were one small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.4 grams and estimated street value of P1,000, plus the more than 200 grams of shabu which were placed in a large transparent bag. Ragay said, on-site inventory was conducted in the presence of Barangay Kagawad Novim Matunoo and media representative Jomar Sacpa. The suspect was brought to Buguias Municipal Police Station, and a case for violation of Article II, section 5, 11 and 12 of RA 9165 was being prepared for filing against the arrested suspect.
