DAVAO ORIENTAL - The alternate care site in Mati City for persons under investigation (PUIs) for possible coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection is now open.
City Information Office head Ben Tesiorna said the site, called The Isolation Unit of the Divine Healer, was formally turned over to the city on Sunday, April 26.
The inauguration as graced by Mati City Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat, Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat, Rep. Mayo Almario and IMT COVID-19 head Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan Jr.
A mass was first officiated by Mati Bishop Abel Apigo before the ribbon-cutting and blessing of the facility.
Tesiorna said that one of the buildings was capable of handling 14 patients, while the other facility is for triage.
"There is also a separate building for the health frontliners that will serve as their quarters," Tesiorna said.
Rabat said another building will also be rehabilitated to add more isolation rooms in the event there will be an increase in the number of PUIs in the city.
She said the funding for the rehabilitation of the second PUI building will come from the national government through the Bayanihan We Heal as One Act.
