Legarda: Jimenez a 'great loss for the Filipino nation'

Loren Legarda (Congresswoman Loren Legarda Official Facebook Page / FILE PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) The House leader extended her sympathies to the family of Jimenez, who passed away at the age of 64. “His vibrant personality, love of country, and his proactive vision very much shaped our country’s tourism sector,” Legarda said in a statement. “His passing leaves a great void. He will always be remembered as one of the great minds who introduced our rich, beautiful, and bountiful country to the world." During the previous Aquino administration, Jimenez served as tourism secretary from 2011 to 2016. He was behind the country's tourism slogan “It’s More Fun in the Philippines." Legarda said apart from working with Jimenez several years ago, she was also a friend to the late tourism chief and his late wife, Abby. The Jimenez couple, Legarda added, "readily supported her projects and shared advocacies." "My deepest condolences to the family. May his soul rest in peace. To a life well-lived and loved, Sec. Mon, we will surely miss you as we do Miss Abby. Both of you were especially kind to me. Thank you for that," Legarda concluded. Jimenez is survived by his daughters, Sassa and Nina Jimenez.
