2 brgy chairpersons nabbed for playing 'tong-its' in Bayambang

By Liezle Basa Inigo LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Two barangay chairpersons and a companion were arrested in Bayambang, Pangasinan after they were caught playing a card game during the implementation of extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ), according to the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) Saturday, April 25. According to the PPPO, Reynato Soriano, chairperson of Barangay Tamaro; Romeo Caranto, barangay chairperson of Barangay Banaban; and their companion Ricardo Benitez were caught playing “tong-its” in Barangay Buenlag 1st in Bayambang town. Police said a concerned citizen reported to them that the suspects were engaged in the illegal cardgame. Acting on this information, elements of Bayambang Police were dispatched for the conduct of an anti-illegal gambling operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
