2,446 persons apprehended in Muntinlupa for ECQ violations

By Jonathan Hicap A total of 2,446 persons in Muntinlupa were apprehended by the Philippine National Police (PNP) for violating rules and ordinances implemented under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from March 15 to April 24. eec6b444-fb9f-4dd7-b479-c4d73bc0fce6 Ten violators of curfew in Muntinlupa were apprehended on April 23 by the Muntinlupa Police. (Photo courtesy of PNP Muntinlupa) Data from the Muntinlupa City government showed that of the total, 1,473, or 60.22 percent, were given warnings and were turned over to the barangay. A total of 946, or 38.7 percent, face charges of violating Republic Act 11332 or "Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act,” and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or resistance and disobedience to a person in authority. Of the 946, a total of 928 or 98 percent were caught for violating Muntinlupa’s curfew ordinance, which was initially from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. but was expanded to 24 hours by the Muntinlupa City Council. Bgy. Alabang had the highest number of curfew violators with 368, followed by Poblacion at 212, Tunasan at 158, Putatan at 52, Bayanan at 51, Sucat at 45, Cupang at 27, Buli at 15, and Ayala Alabang with 0 violators. Four were caught for drinking in public in violation of an ordinance that bans the sale, delivery and drinking of liquor and other alcoholic drinks during the duration of the quarantine, and 15 were apprehended at checkpoints in the city. In addition, the PNP Muntinlupa has filed cases against 28 persons.
