Davao Oriental provincial gov't starts second round of food pack distribution

By Warren Elijah Valdez DAVAO CITY - The provincial government of Davao Oriental started last Monday (April 20) its second round of food pack distribution to different municipalities. In a statement on Tuesday, the provincial government said it has covered around 7,135 families in its initial distribution of relief goods to nine barangays of Mati City. The provincial government also said it has completed distributing food packs to 4,373 families in eight barangays in the municipality of Boston. The distribution will continue in the coming days to cover the remaining municipalities and barangays in Mati City that have yet to receive food packs. The residents of the remaining areas where food packs are still to be distributed were reminded to wait as their respective purok and barangay officials will give announcements regarding the distribution. Around 170,000 families in the province are targeted to receive the food packs, which contain four kilos of rice and four pieces of canned goods. The second round of food pack distribution was initiated by the provincial government as a means to help its local government units (LGUs) as the LGUs will be handling their own distribution during the third round, per an agreement between provincial governor Nelson Dayanghirang and the chief executives of the LGUs.
