Free food for frontliners from grateful Filipinos

By Andrea Aro Healthcare workers and frontliners have received free food from grateful Filipinos thanks for their sacrifice and devoted service in containing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The #FoodForHeroes campaign has boosted the morale of healthcare workers and frontliners during the national health emergency as more Filipinos joined the campaign in giving free food. Among those who joined the campaign was the Mamatabs Gourmet Food led by Chef Dee Sunga. The organization has provided meals for healthcare workers and frontliners in San Lazaro Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Children's Medical Center and other hospitals.
Mamatabs encourages other Filipinos to donate or give support in kind for the healthcare workers and frontliners. Meanwhile, Anjo Perez who turned a tent into a kitchen where he and his brother cooked meals for frontliners in Metro Manila has received donations to help provide food for the frontliners.
Perez and his brother took turns to deliver the meals to the healthcare workers and frontliners in Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Perez partnered with Mazda Philippines to help deliver the food to Makati Medical Center and St. Lukes in BGC, Taguig City. Philippine-based Syrian vlogger Basel Manadil gave out "mini trash bins" full of groceries to garbage collectors who are also frontliners according to Manadil.
Other than providing groceries to frontliners, Manadil also cooked meals for homeless people amid these trying times. Many healthcare workers and frontliners have received donations such as PPE, face masks, face shields and similar gear.
