BUTUAN CITY - A 4.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Central Mindanao on Monday morning, April 20, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was recorded at 4:30 a.m., with the epicenter plotted five kilometers (kms) northeast of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat province. The tremor had a shallow depth of only eight kms, Phivolcs said.
Intensity lll was registered in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.
In its instrumental Intensity, Phivolcs also recorded Intensity lll in Kidapawan City (North Cotabato) and Intensity 1 in Malungon, Sarangani and Koronadal, South Cotabato province
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the agency.
The regional office of the Central Mindanao Office of Civil Defense and provincial disaster risk reduction and management council there reported no damage or injury.
Earlier, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was also recorded at 2:16 a.m. on the same day (April 20) and its epicenter was traced 22 kms northeast of Malapatan, Sarangani, with a depth of 32 kms, Phivolcs also reported, in its advisory.
In its Instrumental Intensities, Phivolcs also recorded Intensity lll in Malungon, Sarangani while Intensity ll in Alabel, Sarangani and General Santos City
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the state agency.
The Sarangani disaster risk reduction and management council there also reported no damage or injury.
