By Aaron Recuenco Two foreigners were arrested for allegedly robbing P6 million cash from their fellow Chinese in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, police reported on Saturday. But an interesting twist in the story happened when a security guard of a commercial establishment, who helped arrest the two robbery suspects, took a portion of the loot. NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the robbery started when the suspects Wang Hui Yan and Xie Jian Nan were able to convince the victim to convert his P6 million to Chinese currency. The victim, Zhue Haijun, agreed only after the two suspects promised to immediately deposit the money to his account. The meeting was set on Thursday afternoon. But after Zhue and his wife showed the cash while inside their car, the suspects sprayed chemicals on their eyes and ran away with their cash. The couple chased the suspects but when they were about to corner them, one of them pulled a gun and threatened to shoot. At that moment, 34-year security guard Luwie Manuevo arrived and rescued the couple by apprehending the suspects. Manuevo then brought the two suspects to his employer's office where they were picked up by responding policemen. But the story did not end there. While the cops were counting the money recovered from the suspects, they noticed that the cash was short of P100,000. The policemen immediately interrogated the two suspects, believing that they hid the money somewhere or they may have other cohorts who were able to escape. The suspects told the police that they did not touch the money as they were trying to run away from the scene and were later apprehended by the security guard. The guard was interrogated by the substation-5 personnel who discovered that the guard, with the help of another guard, managed to keep the missing amount of money without the knowledge of the owner of the establishment they worked for, the robbers, and the victims. “Interrogation was conducted to the security guard and it was discovered that he managed to keep the missing amount of money together with his co-guard on duty without the knowledge of the owner,” said Sinas. Sinas said a case of robbery is now being readied against the two Chinese. And as for the security guard, he will be charged with theft.
