2 drug suspects killed in firefight with Bulacan police

By Freddie Velez SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan - Two suspected drug peddlers engaged operatives of the Bulacan police, and were killed in the firefight in a buy-bust operation conducted in Sitio Malabon, Barangay Sto Cristo, here Thursday evening. In a report sent by San Jose Del Monte Police Chief Lt. Col. Gil Domingo, the slain suspects were identified as Reynaldo Rana Bagtas and Franco Marata Pantua. Domingo said that, in the conduct of the drug sting, the suspects became suspicious and engaged the operatives in a firefight when they were about to be arrested in Block 13, Lot 54, Sitio Malabon, Barangay Sto Cristo at about 8 p.m. The police were prompted to fire back that resulted in the suspects’ death. Two of their cohorts identified as Joanna Marie Zamora Bulawan and Roger Dilig Narag were arrested. Recovered were an improvised shotgun (sumpak), a caliber-.38 revolver, spent shells, three plastic sachets containing shabu, and the buy-bust money. Meanwhile, in a buy-bust operation conducted by the operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of San Miguel Police in Barangay Tartaro, San Miguel town, Gerry Liwanag Flores, who was included in Philippine National Police (PNP)-Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) unified watch list, was arrested after selling a sachet of shabu to an undercover agent Thursday evening. Seized from him were eight sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money.
