PPE sets finally delivered to Zambasulta – VP

By Raymund Antonio The office of Vice President Leni Robredo continues to assist frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), with the opening of another dormitory and delivery of more personal protective equipment (PPE) for them. (PCG/ MANILA BULLETIN) (PCG/ MANILA BULLETIN) Robredo said her office was finally able to deliver PPE sets in Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta) after encountering some hitches. She rued the lack of flights, which caused the delay in the delivery of the PPE sets for a week. “Our deliveries to Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi Tawi encountered some hitches last week because we had to look for flights and when we found one, we found out airport was closed. But all’s well that ends well,” she said in a Facebook post. In the end, a Philippine Coast Guard aircraft transported the PPEs to Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital and Tuan Ligaddung Lipae Memorial Hospital in Tawi-Tawi. It was the second time the PCG facilitated the delivery of PPEs from the OVP after its trip to Busuanga and Puerto Princesa earlier this month. “So happy that our PPE sets reached Tawi Tawi already,” Robredo, the leader of the opposition, said. The OVP and its private partner, Kaya Natin! Movement, continue to receive cash donations to buy protective gear for COVID-19 frontliners. At least 69,525 PPE sets have already been distributed to various public and private hospitals nationwide. Meanwhile, the OVP will open the 11th dormitory in Malate, Manila, to cater to health workers and non-medical frontliners from the Philippine General Hospital, she said.
