Makati records 177 COVID-19 cases, 30 recoveries, 18 deaths

By Jel Santos Makati City now has a total of 177 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the local government unit said. Based on the data of Makati Health Department (MHD), there were also 18 deaths as of 9 a.m. of April 13. Notably, Makati has recorded 30 recoveries within the same period. The barangay with the most number of COVID-19 is still Poblacion, with a total of 22 cases. It was followed by San Lorenzo that has 16 residents that have contracted the dreaded disease. MHD said that there are now 495 persons under investigation (PUIs), and 312 persons under monitoring (PUMs). Mayor Abigail "Abby" Binay has urged those who believe that they contracted COVID-19 to immediately call 168 or (02) 8236-5790. Meantime, she called on her constituents to stay at home during the span of the enhanced community quarantine to help combat COVID-19. Binay said the local government is exhausting all efforts to make residents not to leave their homes. According to her, they are delivering medicines to the most vulnerable residents, aside from giving financial assistance to them. All residents are encouraged by the mayor to practice the "Otso-Otso" cleaning habit to help in the battle against COVID-19. Operational business establishments in the city are also enjoined to practice the disinfection program, Binay said.
