COVID-19 regional testing, screening center pushed in Caraga region

By Mike Crismundo BUTUAN CITY – In an effort to protect all Caraganons from the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), all the mayors in the Caraga region have been requested to urge all their legislative bodies to pass a resolution supporting the immediate establishment of a molecular laboratory at the Caraga Regional Hospital (CRH) in Surigao City to serve as a COVID-19 testing and screening center for the region. As chairperson of the Regional Task Force for COVID-19 One Caraga Shield, Agusan del Norte Governor Dale B. Corvera requested all the chairpersons and its respective members in the five provinces and six cities in Caraga region to urgently pass their respective resolution in support of the establishment of the said molecular laboratory. The quick response of the provincial chief executive of Agusan del Norte on Monday was in response to the appeal of Butuan City and Agusan del Norte first district Rep. Lawrence “Law” Fortun to collectively lobby for this proposal as part of a nationwide measure for mass testing. “Actually, this will be a very vital facility, since we don’t have this in Caraga, especially now that we are confronting this deadly virus,” stressed Corvera. He said the mayors in Agusan del Norte have already been advised to join the call by passing resolutions this week pushing for the said COVID-19 testing and screening center.
