942 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City - DOH

The total number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in Quezon City surged to 942 as of 7 p.m. of April 13 based on the latest data of the Department of Health (DOH).

This differed from the 597 tally of validated cases reported by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices during the same period.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the locality which refers to those who are still alive and have not fully recovered fell to 472 from the previous tally of 475.

In the same report, the number of recoveries stood at 64 after 19 new ones were reported with the total number of deaths now at 60, one up from the previous 59.

Extreme Enhanced Community Quarantine (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte has reiterated that the city government enforces the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in different streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely.

As of 7 p.m. of April 13, the Quezon City government has implemented the EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth and Pansol.

HOPE 1 Facility

As of April 13, 2020, HOPE 1, a temporary quarantine facility has reached its full capacity of 23 COVID-19 positive patients and 17 persons under investigation (PUI).

HOPE 2 Facility

As of April 13, 2020, HOPE 2 still has 91 beds available for the use of COVID-19 positive patients and PUI. Currently, 16 COVID-19 positive patients and 43 probable patients are housed in the said facility.

Kalingang QC Report

As of April 13, more than 10,000 tricycle and taxi drivers have received financial assistance from the Kalingang QC program. The city government has provided financial aid to tricycle and jeepney drivers, market vendors, solo parents and persons with disabilities (PWDs) whose livelihoods have been affected by the enhanced community quarantine.

Quezon City Community Based Testing

Belmonte said that 167 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Monday as Quezon City launched its community-based testing simultaneously with the continuous testing in the local-based government hospitals.

The community-based testing area which was conducted at the Quezon Memorial Circle is a one-stop shop with blood tests, x-ray exams and swabbing for people with symptoms of COVID-19 being done.

Belmonte said that those who want to be tested for COVID-19 may get in touch with their barangay health centers where the staff will do preliminary interviews and evaluation prior to scheduling in the testing areas.

Quarantine Violators

On April 13, 114 residents from Barangays Batasan Hills, Holy Spirit, Bagong Silangan, Commonwealth and Pasong Tamo were apprehended for violating quarantine protocols.

Rosario Maclang bautista General Hospital (RMBGH) Disinfection

Dr. Maria Rosela Espinar, officer-in-charge of RMBGH, ordered the thorough disinfection of the hospital after some of its employees were COVID-19 positive.

However, Espinar assured the public that the admitted patients are safe and will continuously be provided with optimum care. Regular operations shall be restored at the earliest possible time.

Ordinance Against Funeral Parlors Rejecting COVID-19 Cadavers

The Quezon City Council approved an ordinance which was certified urgent by the executive department, that establishes protocols for the management of the COVID-19 victims.

Belmonte said the ordinance also prohibits funeral homes and crematoriums from increasing their service fees due to the declaration of the community quarantine.
