In its Facebook page, the city health department on Saturday addressed concerns involving the mental health facility which is located in Mandaluyong.
“We join NCMH in its plea for support from the national government. We also call on NCMH for their full cooperation with the city, especially since there are numerous families residing within its walls,” the city health department said in a statement Saturday.
“We have previously requested NCMH to provide us with complete information on the steps it is taking so that the virus does not spread in the community, and to give our City Health Department a complete list of all its patients and staff who are residents of Mandaluyong, so we can help ensure their safety,” it added.
NCMH chief administrative officer Clarita Avila said in a news report that dozens of their staff has been infected with the coronavirus, with more than half of its psychiatrists went into self-quarantine.
In a recent radio interview, Avila disclosed that six of their psychiatric patients have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
She also lamented that some of their staff have refused to report for work because of the insufficient personal protective equipment
