By MB Online The Lung Center of the Philippines (LCP) on Wednesday appealed for donations of bleaching agents that will be used to disinfect rooms and laboratories for its coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. In an interview with DZMM Teleradyo, Lung Center spokesperson Dr. Norbert Francisco, said that as their COVID testing laboratory has begun operations, thorough cleaning is needed. About 100 gallons of bleaching agents like Chlorox or Lysol are needed per month to disinfect rooms for COVID-19 patients and laboratory that runs tests for the respiratory disease, he said. "Iyong mga kuwarto na ginamit ng COVID patients doble, triple po ang stripping nito. Hindi po uubra iyong ordinary na linis lang," Francisco said. The Lung Center has started admitting patients with possible COVID-19 case as early as late January, he said. The doctor added that there are at least 66 rooms allotted for COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Francisco also said that the hospital has one machine that can analyze at least 40 samples from possible COVID-19 patients every 10 hours. "We are still doing arrangements para makakuha pa ng one or two more machines para dumami dami ang magawa namin," he said, adding that the hospital is also training more personnel to do the tests. Francisco said that so far safety gears for their health workers are enough. "Napakadaming tumutulong. Ang bayanihan spirit ng Pilipino, napakabuhay ngayon. We have supplies for the next 15 days," he said. Meanwhile, Francisco also said the hospital has converted some of its rooms into dorms for its health workers. He added that some hotels in the area also offered free lodging to the frontliners. As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 2,084. Of those infected, 88 died and 49 recovered.#
