foodpanda ensures strict health and safety measures implemented for riders, customers amid COVID-19
Berlin-based food delivery service foodpanda ensures that health and safety measures for its partner riders and customers are being implemented as it continues its operations in Luzon amid the enhanced community quarantine to control the spread of COVID-19.
Among the precautionary actions being implemented are foodpanda’s contactless delivery system which imposes a one-meter distance between the rider and the customer when the food is being delivered.
foodpanda also consistently reminds its riders about quality assurance, fast and efficient delivery service, as well as health and safety guidelines including regularly washing their hands and sanitizing the delivery and thermal bags.
The company has also rolled out a communications and information sharing strategy to keep its riders updated about the current situation.
While the availability of restaurants varies per area during the Luzon-wide community quarantine, foodpanda offers free delivery nationwide.According to foodpanda Philippines Head of Logistics Richard Basora, the safety and health of both their riders and customers are on top of their priorities.
“We are looking into providing more materials for them and also have contingencies in place, should they be needed. We are committed to bringing the best to our customers, vendors, and partners, and want to ensure a healthy and successful ride for all,” he said.
As part of its efforts to help the community amid the COVID-19 outbreak, foodpanda recently delivered food packs to frontliners, including the medical staff of various healthcare institutions.
Expansion plans in order
As it marks its sixth year of operations in the country, foodpanda also announced that it will soon be delivering to more areas in the Philippines, in addition to its recently-opened delivery service in key cities and provinces in Visayas and Mindanao including Toril in Davao, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue City in Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, and General Santos City.
Earlier this year, foodpanda also deployed its pink fleet of riders to Bacoor, Imus, and Tagaytay in Cavite, Angeles and San Fernando City in Pampanga, San Pedro in Laguna, Lipa in Batangas, and Baguio.
Additional restaurant partners such as Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Goldilocks, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, and Tim Hortons have been added to the platform for Luzon customers.
“As we turned six this year, the team believes that the region of Visayas and Mindanao has a similar potential to Manila in terms of growth and expansion with a lot of potential for food delivery,” said Argie Muyco, foodpanda Philippines Head of Expansion. “We intend to bring the best experience to consumers and are excited to see positive reactions from partner restaurants and customers.”
