Riway Philippines Inc. started its operation in the country in April, 2016 as part of the drug wholesalers industry.
The purpose of the firm's P35 million donation is "for the donation of goods for COVID-19," based on the agency's statement of cash donations.
The donation was made last March 26, 2020.
Riway Philippines Inc. is part of Singapore-based Riway International, which expanded to countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, and Philippines.
"RIWAY, which means "Right Way", was derived from our core mission of "Showing You The Right Way", which delineates our determination and passion to transform people’s lives, regardless of race, religion, social class or nationality. Its goal is to enrich people's lives through its constant offerings of innovative product and services," according to Riway International's Facebook page.
The DSWD earlier announced that it is accepting in-kind and cash donations for the marginalized and poor communities affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
The agency said cash donations may be deposited at the DSWD's dollar and peso savings accounts, both at the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
"For all the donors, they can directly deposit your donations at the DSWD donation account," it said.
The account name of its dollar savings account is DSWD Foreign Donation with Account Number:3124-0055-81 and Swift Code: TLBPPHMMXXX.
While, DSWD Donation Fund is the peso savings account name of the DSWD with account number: 3122-1011-84.
The Department asked the donors to immediately inform the DSWD-Finance Management Service (FMS) about their donation by sending validated deposit slip and personal information such as name, nationality, and address through e-mail ([email protected] or [email protected]) or fax at 8931-8127.
In turn, the DSWD will send official receipt to the donors via email or fax, it said.
The DSWD also encouraged the public to donate food items such as canned goods, biscuits, noodles, and other ready-to-eat meals as well as hygiene kits such as alcohol, face mask, and disinfectant spray.
It said the donors may coordinate with Charles Kavin Ronda or Paul Agner of the DSWD Donation Management Section at 8355-2849 or at email them at [email protected] and [email protected]
As of March 30, the DSWD provided a total of P46.64 million relief assistance to the local government units (LGUs) during the enhanced community quarantine, distributing more than 120,000 Family Food Packs (FFPs) nationwide.
Based on the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations and Monitoring Information Center (DROMIC) report, as of 6 a.m. of March 30, a total of 121,803 Family Food Packs have been distributed nationwide.
The DROMIC report noted aside from the DSWD's P46.64 million relief aid, the LGUs also provided P928.17 million assistance, while non-government organizations (NGOs) gave P1.47 million worth of assistance.
A total 13.42 million has been donated by other sources, making the total cost of assistance to P989.7 million, based on the report.
The DSWD assured the public that it has stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1.490 billion--P611 million standby funds in its Central Office and Field Offices (FOs), and P586 million Quick Response Fund (QRF) in the Central Office.
The DROMIC report said a total of 277,771 FFPs amounting to P105 million are still available for distribution.
Also set for distribution are P204 million worth of "other food items" and non-food items amounting to P570 million.
Each FFP contains six kilos of rice, four cans of sardines, four cans of corned beef or beef loaf, and six sachets of coffee or cereal energy drink which is enough for two days for a family with five members, the DSWD said.
"The provision of additional relief items is part of the Department’s mandate to provide Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) to LGUs during times of emergencies," it said.
