April Lulz canceled

Even digital events are getting canceled such as Google's April Fool's Day, and they aren't the only one. Black hacker group, Pinoy LulzSec has posted on Twitter that they will be canceling their annual April Lulz event.

On a Twitter post, Pinoy LulzSec said, “Stay at your localhost. Close your ports. Please focus on your safety. Without you, we have nothing to hack. We are canceling our attack for this year’s april lulz. Let’s see each other again after this virus season.”'

April Lulz is an annual three-day event from April 1, 2, and 3, where Pinoy LulzSec hacks and defaces Philippine websites and get access into people’s social media accounts, changing their passwords, and locking them out.

Based from previous interviews by the Manila Bulletin, Pinoy LulzSec is a group that hacks “for fun” and have no political stance and no agenda to send to the public. Everything is “for the lulz.”

They simply find amusement in shaming websites that have weak security. For them, it’s a wakeup call for the website owners to toughen up their cybersecurity.

They haven't specified if they will continue their attack later within the year should the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic alleviates or if they will keep tradition and reveal all their hacking spree starting on April 1, 2021.
