Trabajo Market in Sampaloc, Manila was placed on lockdown and is undergoing disinfection after a vendor reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
The Manila Public Information Office (PIO) confirmed on Monday that it has been about two days since the Manila Market Administration Office placed Trabajo Market on lockdown.
The market was supposed to be reopened to the public on Tuesday morning, but the vendors and stallowners of Trabajo Market said they would rather go on self-quarantine, the Manila PIO said.
Earlier, Hernandez Street in Tondo, Manila was also placed on lockdown by barangay officials. Barangay 69 Chairman Edgardo Tria said the street, which has 43 residents, was placed on lockdown after a resident tested positive for COVID-19. However, the Manila PIO denied this and said the street was placed on lockdown since residents keep loitering around the area. As of writing, there are now 55 COVID-19 cases in Manila with seven deaths and one recovered patient.
