Davao City drugstore owner nabbed for allegedly selling overpriced alcohol

DAVAO CITY -- A drugstore owner here was nabbed in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling overpriced alcohol on Friday evening.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the suspect as Joy Marie E. Perez , 47, owner of Coson Pharmacy 883, and a resident of Country Homes, Cabantian.
Report bared, operatives of Sta. Ana Police Station and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group - Davao City Field Unit in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), launched the operation around 6:15 p.m. of March 27, in her pharmacy located on Mabini Boulevard.
The operation was launched after they received information that the drugstore was selling alcohol at prices much higher set by authorities. A 4,000 m. bottle of 70% Ethyl alcohol was reportedly being sold at P980, while a 750 ml bottle of 70% Isoprophyl alcohol was allegedly being sold at P400.
The police also seized 36 bottles of 4000 ml 70% Ethyl alcohol, and 44 bottles of 750 ml 70% Isoprophyl alcohol at the drugstore with a total worth of P53,860.
Cases for violation of Republic Act 10623, An Act Providing Protection to Consumers by Stabilizing the Prices of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities and by Prescribing Measures Against Undue Price Increases During Emergency will filed against the suspect who is now detained at the Sta. Ana Police Station.
