CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) is not conducting any campaign to raise funds for personal protective equipment (PPEs) or other supplies for its health workers.
This was the clarification made by BMC Medical Director Dr. Dave Rawland Domingo Friday, March 27, after they received reports that came out in the online platform of a national daily that the hospital was raising funds to purchase PPEs, among others.
In his statement posted on his Facebook account, Domingo said the problem of scarcity of PPEs was global, and they, at BMC, were managing things to the best of their ability.
Instead, Domingo belied the rumors and said that the provincial government of Bulacan has already procured P14 million worth of PPEs.
“The hospital has the full support of the provincial government headed Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Governor Wilehlmino M. Sy-Alvarado and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, " wrote Domingo.
He also mentioned that some socio-civic groups have already pledged support, which BMC welcomed because these forms of assistance where being made without any strings attached.
Meanwhile, the provincial government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, has started distributing relief goods to Bulacan municipalities and cities.
They are aiming to distribute a total of 83,805 packs of relief goods to 4Ps and Listahanan beneficiaries all over the province, and 16,384 packs for District I, 16,573 for District II, 20,510 for District III, and 30,338 for District IV.
As of 4 p.m. March 26, the Bulacan PHO reported that Bulacan already had 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), with 266 patients under investigation (PUIs), and 1,491 persons under monitoring (PUMs).
