Las Piñas cops nab 3 in drug sting, haul in P600-K worth of shabu

By Jean Fernando Members of the Las Piñas City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three persons, two male and one female, in a buy-bust operation and confiscated from them P659,600 worth of shabu Tuesday afternoon. City police chief Col. Segundo Lagundi identified the suspects as Ferdie Canlas, 51, of Aristocrat Village, Barangay Talon 3, Las Pinas City; Edwin Salas, 49, of BF Homes, Las Piñas City; and Michaela Valenzuela, 23, of Sinag Tala, BF Homes, Parañaque City. The suspects are now detained at the Las Piñas City custodial facility, and charges of violating Section 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against them. Investigation showed that the suspects were arrested at about 4:55 p.m. along El Grande Avenue, Barangay CAA, BF International, Las Piñas City. Lagundi said the arrest of the suspects came after a police poseur-buyer bought shabu from the suspect. He said the police seized from the three suspects 97 grams of a substance suspected to be shabu (crystal meth) amounting to P659,600. Lagundi said the confiscated substance was brought to the Southern Police District Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis.
