By Freddie Velez CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) here is now undertaking meticulous contact tracing on persons who may have had encountered a father and his son, who became this province’s first and second coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fatalities. According to the PHO, the first fatality, identified as Patient 57, was a 65-year-old “balikbayan” who had just arrived from London to attend the birthday celebration of his father in Barangay Maasin in San Ildefonso, Bulacan. Patient 57 reportedly felt dizzy and lost consciousness at the height of the birthday celebration, and was brought to the hospital where attending physicians diagnosed him with having the symptoms of COVID-19. He was later brought to a hospital in Metro Manila where he expired on Wednesday, March 18. His father, known as Patient 304, was 84 years old, and died a few days later. "Dapat makilala agad ng mga health workers ang mga dumalo sa birthday party at iba pang nakasalamuha nila para maidagdag sa persons under monitoring(PUMs)," a resident, who asked not to be named, said. As of this writing, according to the PHO, there are seven Bulakenyos who have tested positive for COVID-19, and are confined in hospitals. The PHO also reported that there were 163 patients under investigation (PUIs), and 468 PUMs in Bulacan.
